About the event

Join Kaipātiki Project for a relaxed, story-rich walk along Te Ara Awataha, guided by their ecologist who has been deeply involved in the regeneration of this corridor since 2019. This walk weaves together ecology, history and community, offering insight into how care, collaboration and time have transformed this landscape.

You’ll begin at Papa Ki Awataha, the source of the Awataha Stream, and follow the waterway through to Cadness Reserve. Along the way, you’ll hear inspiring stories of restoration, learn about the significance of this 1.5km greenway corridor and discover how nature, people and place are deeply connected in the heart of Northcote.

This is a gentle, leisurely walk, perfect for anyone curious about local ecology, community-led regeneration or simply wanting to better understand the backyard they move through every day.
