The AAA meets on the second Thursday of every month (except January) at St Luke’s Methodist Church, 16 Greenslade Crescent, Northcote, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Their speaker on 9 July is Associate Professor Armagan Sabetian.
Armagan is a marine biologist in the School of Science at AUT. His work focuses on fisheries science, fish reproductive biology, otolith microchemistry, fish–habitat interactions, Pacific Island fisheries, and marine conservation and management. Alongside his research in Aotearoa New Zealand, he is actively engaged in the Pacific Islands, contributing to ongoing scientific work throughout the region.
Armagan’s presentation has two parts:
1. The movement patterns of ancient snapper in the Hauraki Gulf
2. Time to Put BOFFFF to Bed: Why We Need to Stop Talking About the Big, Old, Fat, Fecund Female Fish
